We’re heading to Kyrgyzstan this summer on an exploratory trip and would love to have you join us!
We’re looking for a small group of adventurous riders who enjoy camping, exploring, learning about a new culture and going with the flow.
Over the course of 8 days, we’ll traverse the Kyrgyz landscape as if we were a nomad ourselves. This is a tour that fosters an authentic connection with your horse and a real local experience.
Throughout the journey, we will spend nights in both yurts and tented camps with Kyrgyz host families, under the stars on Son-Kul Lake, building camp in a hidden valley. We’ll explore a mountain range home to wolves, wild boars, farm animals, and nomads. The Kyrgyz are a mountain people, and this is where the ride will take us.
Horses and horsemanship are so deeply tied to the Kyrgyz culture and this is something we will come to feel deeply immersed in. Kyrgyzstan’s mountain horses have carried nomads across the landscapes for centuries and they are perfectly adapted to high altitude trekking.

OUR WILD RIDE OF THE MONTH
Ride from the Sierra de Gredos to the historic city of Salamanca on a point-to-point journey through one of Spain’s most beautiful regions. Each day you’ll follow mountain paths, cross valleys and forests, and enjoy long, relaxed canters across open countryside with incredible views all around you.
Along the way, you’ll stop for authentic Spanish lunches in the countryside — prepared for you on the spot while your horses graze nearby. Evenings are spent in small rural inns and hotels, with good wine, good company, traditional dishes and plenty of time to unwind.
Your final stretch takes you across rolling plains toward Salamanca, where golden sandstone buildings and lively plazas mark the end of your ride. It’s a scenic, varied and culturally rich trail — perfect for riders who want a mix of beautiful views, open canters and real Spanish charm.

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO TALK ABOUT horse care
This might seem a bit self explanatory but it’s the unfortunate truth that there are operators out there who do not take the necessary care of their working horses, treat them with the respect they deserve and there’s unfortunately a small pool of agents who value money and an expanse of holiday options over the welfare of horses.
That’s why we wanted to be as transparent as possible about how each operator we work with takes care of their horses so you can be confident that when you book a riding trip through Wild Mane, you’ll be riding with an operator who values their horses above all else.
It’s important that horses have time to live out as naturally as possible, are kept in groups allowing them time to socialise, have plenty of breaks between riding tours and are given the necessary vet care and check ups that they require.

I was inspired to start Wild Mane after a riding holiday in Iceland in 2022 & 2023 (it was so good I went back to do it again) that changed my life and the way I want to travel the world. There is nothing better than experiencing the views and culture of a country through a set of ears.
But travel isn’t always easy and planning takes a lot of time which is why at Wild Mane, we take care of that for you.
